Another week, another Thursday and I’m seriously running out of things to say about my garden. The weather is still awful (typically British, let’s chat about the weather!), summer does not know if it wants to come or go – maybe the Witch-In-Law could cast a spell so it stays sunny, I’m sure she prefers the sun to rain anyway!
This will be the last of my weekly updates, as I’m sure no-one wants to see each of my tomatoes or strawberries as they grow (although I find it extremely fascinating!). I’ll update on Thursday’s from time to time if there’s anything to report but will save you from boredom in the meantime…
So, what’s new in my garden? The tomatoes are finally growing but need some serious sun SOON to make them ripen:

The Geranium’s are in full bloom and look lovely. We got them as a mossie repellent but have not yet been able to test their efficacity as it’s been too horrible to sit outside!

The basil has grown too since the cat debacle. Well, actually we planted some more (the small ones) and quite a lot seem to have grown. Now we’re just waiting for the weather to settle and then they’ll be planted outside with tomato plants.

Finally, another plant which I’m not sure what it is is starting to flower. It didn’t do any flowers last year so it’s a minor miracle as far as I’m concerned. Can anyone help in identifying please? I thinks it’s called an Olliander but am not sure!

The last plant is an Oleander and it’s leaves are poisonous — don’t let your cats eat it!
Your tomatoes and geraniums are lovely! I just planted my basil in a big pot.
Arggghhhh, poisonous leaves? It was a gift, I wonder why on earth anyone would give me a poisonous plant!!! Good job you said, I will ensure my cats stay well away – thank you!
My basil is going outside this weekend, was yours inside before you planted in big pot? I hope it survives as I’m longing for lovely home grown tomato and basil salads…
Crikey, I can’t believe you already have tomatoes trying to ripen!!!! I am at least a month off even the first signs of fruit and 6 weeks off seeing anything edible. It’s all been so SLOW this year – very frustrating. I must blog with a potager update soon – sod all else going on at the mo!
I know, the slowness is soooo frustrating! They’re the only ones I’ve found at the moment, all the other plants look like they’re about six weeks off as well. Probably better for them though as these one’s will take six weeks to ripen at this rate. We’ll probably all have tomatoes into the winter this year…
If you want to kill granny, then do her a BBQ using oleander twigs as sticks.
I foresee the Legion d’Honneur heading your way.
So, in less exalted fashion, is a tag coming from me…only if you have time.
Thanks for the tag, it’s like playing pass the parcel at a party
I will duly provide concentration and answers as soon as I’ve thought of the next round of questions…
I think if anything happened to her at the moment I would be suspect numero uno so I really should stop blogging about her and leaving a written trace.
If someone from the Legion d’Honneur googles themselves and finds this post, please note that all I have said is IN JEST! That should keep me safe
I have the same exact type of oleander ,in red-it is called Red Sicilian Nerium and it’s a wonderful tree except that you have to be very careful coz it’s poisoning, just like the first post says. Throw away all dead leaves and wash your hands after(some people get allergies).
And I like seeing your plats growing-I love gardening and only because I am extremely lazy I don’t keep updating my garden photos on my blog. Maybe I will do it, today
)
I wish I had more space to grow plants Rosabell. That, and better weather of course!
Knowing my luck I’ll probably get an allergy to the plant now I know its poisonous.
If the Legion d’Honneur turn up, just denounce me…final proof that you have integrated!
oh yes, the legendry denonciation francaise…
Looks wonderful Piglet. My tomatoes got some disease and just fell over in the wind. Thank goodness for the Marché! Oleander is poisonous but it grows really well in this part of the world…I guess that’s why it was given to you. Mine should flower this week. If the sun decides to shine. Geez, this weather is driving me batty. Okay, we have sun here, but there are actually a few clouds too….every single day. And that is bizarre for this part of France. I think Fly is on to something. Be discreet!
I know! What’s wrong with the weather? It’s all so crazy this year. Bright sunshine this morning and this afternoon torrential rain and wind blowing a gale. Come on weather, we’re in JUNE…
Sorry to hear about your tomatoes. What a shame
Do you think it could have been mildew? I think mine have something wrong with them too, although I’m crossing my fingers and hoping. Last year they all shrivelled up and died so I’m really hoping for better luck this year.
My oleader is trying to flower now, I’ll cross my fingers, legs and toes for some sun for you…
Also, the oleanders grow to be HUGH! So you have to keep after them if you don’t want a five foot tall and around bush growing in your garden. They line the freeway dividers here in California.
