Thanks everyone for your recent support and tips for dealing with a bad back. Lots of rest, stretching, massages and heat have been paying off and I’m back in front of the PC as of today and for short periods at a time!
Today is also special for another reason: I enter my third trimester of pregnancy and my bump is getting bigger, so much so I am beginning to feel like a hippopotamus!
I have also decided that being pregnant is no fun, what with my bad back and having to follow a no sugar diet as I am really close to having gestational diabetes. The no sugar bit is a nightmare as all my cravings are for sweet things (in fact, I fancy a chocolate chip cookie RIGHT NOW) and so calming my cravings is impossible leading me to be in a permanent state of frustration.
I am sure all those women that tell me how being pregnant is wonderful were lying through their teeth and its all just one big conspiracy theory to keep the human race going. Surely no-one can enjoy being in this state or maybe I’m just exceptionally unlucky?
I am currently enjoying lots of baby movement although it is not amusing when she decides to dance at night. I guess the night dancing bit is my fault though as when I wanted to get her to move for my Dad I played some music on my tummy and ever since she has been dancing! Apparently our little Miss Piglet loves jigging around to M, “Le roi des ombres” just like her Mummy!
Also, the shopping part is really, really fun!!! Everyone has been warning me about going silly and buying too much stuff so I’m really trying to limit myself. I am having a bit of a problem resisting all the gorgeous dresses though, especially with summer coming:
Mr Piglet and I are still currently homeless come February 15th but the good news of the day is that we have agreed a price on a property at last!!! Update coming soon…

Pecker up….
The worst of it will be over in…..
about…..
18 years?
It gets easier from then on, so I’m told?
All the best
Keith
ha ha ha!!! I think you’re right there Keith! Although I bet my Mum & Dad would disagree, I think they will say it’s NEVER over! Look at me, I’m 30 and still giving them grief!! LOL!
Glad you’re feeling better…and that dress is gorgeous!
thanks Fly! Dress shopping especially in the age of the internet is becoming EXTREMELY dangerous for my poor credit card…
Congratulations on getting to the third trimester and for getting a deal on a house. That should reduce some stress and related back aches. Dads love, or at least I sure do love buying pretty things for their granddaughters so I am sure you will have many more pretty dresses to follow.
Thanks Michel! I had my best night of sleep for AGES last night, the stress has definitely gone down!
I was surprised that my Dad managed to pick out something cute, I can assure you it’s even cuter in real life as well
The third trimester! Ah, you’re almost there.. except from my experience the last one feels the longest! I completely agree that we got duped. However, the result isn’t so bad
Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better. What a cute little dress!
oh no! The longest? Don’t say that!! I can see what you mean though, the second trimester seemed to fly by, it only feels like yesterday that I was saying youpee, 2nd trimester!
Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEXIbsEArTY
Actually no one ever asks the question ‘what’s it like being pregnant?’. If they did, they would get told. I agree that it’s no partie de plaisir and I don’t understand how women can have child upon child upon child. Or maybe they had it easy. I had terrible constipation which ruined my delight at being pregnant. I also had sciatica and my legs got cramp if I stayed sitting too long (like during a film).
A friend of mine had terrible haemorrhoids and could barely sit down so pregnancy can be really really awful. Good thing it only lasts a few months, followed by the birthing process which can be good or bad and then finally, the little wee person is there and the real horrors start. (just kidding)
The dress is super cute. I nearly bankrupt myself buying a little outfit in Jacadi for my niece – lovely dress and cardi but prices to make your hair stand on end!
mmm, you’re right I’ve never asked but I had lots of people tell me how wonderful it was and how much they enjoyed being pregnant… Maybe I was just surrounded by either 1) women who had exceptionally good pregnancies or 2) BIG FAT LIARS!!! LOL!
Thankfully I haven’t had any issues with the plumbing as yet but then I have been eating All Bran since day 1 but the back probelms and leg cramp (my god, how awful is that???) are enough to drive me to insanity. The leg cramp is really, really awful – did you find a way to deal with it?
I’m sure I could become bankrupt very, very quickly! A quick stroll around the designer baby section at Galeries Lafayette nearly caused me a heartattack although I did crack for a little Burberry number, ridiculous I know! But some of the stuff the designers do are so, so cute how can you resist? Silly prices though
Enjoy every minute of it.
I am one of those who loved being pregnant ..My hair and skin looked perfect:)
My son kicked the (*&^*) out of my pelvis everyday.
I was big ..very big! Plus, i was happy to not have a monthly cycle for 10 months!
Shop away! She will never be this small again..and you can dress her as you want. When she is older she will revolt against your choices.
My best to you, cant wait to hear more about the house, i love living in france thru your blog:)
Everything you experienced I am also enjoying I have to say, but I have too many other aches and pains to be able to go and show off my bump! I am worried that I am going to be very big also, but hey ho! I just wish I could enjoy food and eat what I really want!
You’re right about dressing her as I want now, my poor Mum had to deal with a tom boy in me as I grew up!
I am glad you like reading my blog, its not all that French these days but i’m sure the move to rural France is going to be quite something!
I was blissfully unaware of diabetes, backaches and such when I had both of my children ( the benefits of having children too young) .. I am sorry being pregnant has not been fun for you, I am sorry for all the worries and discomfort.
The best thing anyone can tell you now is that when you hold that baby and look into her eyes, you will declare that It Was All Worth It !! just be careful, for some reason, after you have a baby, a little time goes by and you forget all the bad stuff and Want to Do It Again
besos.. can’t wait to hear about the new development in real estate !!!
Hi Candince, don’t be sorry, I’m not! Despite all the moaning I am so happy to be pregnant, I can’t wait for the big day to come. Yes, it’s uncomfortable and yes, I’m really jealous of women like you who have great pregnancies, but I’m so happy to think that in just 12 weeks I will have a little baby girl! I love it when I feel her dance to music and I love it when she responds to our hands on my tummy. I love buying baby clothes and thinking about what life will be like when she gets here. I hope that I will be able to keep her safe and I hope that the next 12 weeks go smoothly.
As for wanting to do it again right now I’m not sold though, that will all depend on her!
In regards to the German pancake recipe the teaspoon of sugar can actually be omited and instead of syrup you could eat these with some lemon and fresh berries with a touch of honey. The cinnamon really goea a long way.
Thanks Kelleyn, I’m going to be giving this a go with the syrup and berries and lemon this weekend
I’m already licking my lips in anticipation!
Oh you poor thing … I wish I could say it will get better … it won’t – not until you deliver … I was exactly where you were one year ago … actually having BabyinProvence and doing the mummy bit is WAAAY easier and less painful than being pregnant.
Pregnancy pillow, physio, doliprane and endless back rubs are a MUST!! (Get a big ball from Decathlon and bounce on it – it helps)
I have some sugarless recipes too … will share …
Chin up future mama … the end is in sight (even if the next few weeks are the longest … )
Oh … btw … once you have baby piglet in your arms you’ll forget about the pain and then about 6ms later you’ll want another one! hahah!
