This is the most close up pic of me I’ll ever publish on the web! I think I’m totally rocking the dark sunglasses and hat inside in the dark although I’m pretty sure that some of the local people who have seen me skulking around the village in shades and hats despite the fog will soon start asking me for an autograph “a la Kate Moss”.
I guess this is what you get from trying to convert from Girl gone mild back to Girl gone wild: 3 emergency trips to the eye Hospital in Lyon, sinusitis and acute inflammation of the eye equals minimum 1 week (so far) of no seeing anything and sitting in dark rooms. Obviously Blogger meet ups, crazy weddings and lots of rants have worn me down.
So that’s me taking yet another break from Blogging until I can see again!

Wow, get better soon. Are you listening to lots of pod-casts or audio books in your vision-less state?
not yet, just downloading some podcasts. All I’ve been doing until now is moaning, blah blah blah!
I think its high time you had a spell of nothing but good health and good times.
Thanks Michel. I’m beginning to wonder when I’ll get a break.
Holy shnikies! Sorry to hear about your eyeball! At least you have two of them.
I had an eye-emergency 2 years ago which now makes me unable to wear contacts. So, I look so serious all the time… and my lenses are transitions so even on cloudy, winter days I am in ‘shades’. I’m a weirdo here 24/7.
There’s an eye hospital in Lyon? Do they also do Lasik? LOL
Feel better!
Dana
Hi Dana, I’m so glad we have two eyes too! I’m sorry to read that you had to have emergency eye treatment, it is very scary isn’t it? I don’t think I have ever thought much what it would like to be blind until now, the last week has been very scary.
There’s an excellent eye hospital as part of the hospitals at Grange Blanche in Lyon. I’ve been there pretty much every day for the last week and will continue going for the next week at least. They are on service 24/7 and yesterday I saw the head of service who was very good and re-assuring.
If you want Lasik done for vision correction there is a good centre in 3rd district, they refused me as a patient a number of years ago as it was slightly too risky.
I believe the hospital where I am now do it as they told me I will need laser surgery on my other eye as soon as my right eye is better
Feel better soon!!
Thank you!
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks Kelleyn!
Oh no! Rest up and get better soon. x
Thanks Kirsty! Am resting as much as I can although most of my days are spent sitting in hospital waiting rooms and cars.
Rotten luck, and after everything else you have been through.
You’ll be getting village celebrity status though!
Do you think it’s due to the ‘go home’ brigade getting down and dirty with wax and pins?
It does make me wonder…
Celebrity status in the village would be excellent especially if I run for mayor one day LOL! At the moment I would say the glances are more inquisitive and along the lines of “who does she think she is?” .
Oh honey, what bad luck !
I hope your eye heals quickly and that you are in no pain … forced to stay in and play with baby piglet is not so bad, is it
I wear sunglasses as late into the day as I can .. they just consider me that eccentric lady from the US .. but they are sweet to me so I don’t care ~
besos ! C
I think eccentric is a good role, I am definitely playing up to it
Yes, staying in with baby Piglet is great fun although I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m very weird especially when she wakes in the night and I appear in the dark wearing my sunglasses! I’m telling her it’s because I’m ultra cool and that i’m rocking this season’s most important accessory!
I thought it was a post about me at first, as I was silly enough to have argument with a car windscreen, and lost. That was way back in time and it has never been a problem, well only the time I lost my false eye in the swimming pool, but luckily a mate found it when he trod on it.
I hope you are feeling a little better by now Piglet, but it might have done you no harm to rest up for a short while.
Steve aka nelson
Hi Steve, I am sorry to read that you really did lose an eye, I am so grateful that I still have mine, I can’t even begin to imagine. I am sorry but I laughed at your friend stepping on your eye in a swimming pool, the image is funny although I am sure the situation was rather not funny.
Beginning to feel better here thanks, at last. The rest and doing nothing is definitely helping
Hi Piglet
I am glad you are feeling better, just enjoy the excuse for a rest.
I have always laughed at situations like that and it never really has been a hangup for me. I even bet a guy once that I could stick a pin in my eye for a pint.
I am sure it I had lost a leg or an arm it would have effected my life more. There are people a lot worse off.
