Right now my wardrobes are A LOT emptier! I can finally see the wood from the trees and find something fairly quickly that fits when I open up the doors.
Bizarrely Ebay didn’t work out too well, I sold a fair bit of stuff but it was almost like my fellow ebayers thought they were buying from a shop. Numerous were the emails I received asking the measurements of this top and that dress, what the washing instructions were etc etc. I mean for goodness sake, a top at 1 Euro surely you can afford to take a chance especially as it’s from a standard shop?
My wardrobe challenge did work out nicely though as I a few local girls were very interested in my stuff and took a load off of me as did a family member. I was pretty jealous as I saw her trying on stuff and looking good in it, I felt a pinch of my heart recalling that yes, I was actually that slim once upon a time (actually not so long ago).
If you remember I embarked on my wardrobe challenge in a bid to motivate myself to lose weight and go shopping for new clothes.
Progress on the weight loss front has been slow and steady, I have gone down three notches on my belts and am finally able to wear some normal clothes rather than just maternity stuff. Yes, nearly a year after giving birth!
My current aim is to be a dress size smaller before Baby Piglet’s first birthday. Lots of people ask me what diet I am following and whilst I have been tempted on several occasions to do Weight Watchers or other diets, I prefer to re-educate myself, eating sensibly and smaller portions that way I don’t feel deprived and can still indulge occasionally. After all, what’s the point of being a foodie if you can’t eat it?
Do you have any weight loss tips to share?
Can you believe this was me just five years ago?

I picked up a tip from Susie at Desperate Anglo Housewives – Bordeaux – a super blog.
Take your daily walk, and start to run bits of it – the aim being to be eventually able to run all of it, running getting the blubber off.
I’ve started – in the privacy of the early morning so that the grampus like puffing noises aren’t reported as a new species being found in the wilds – and it is starting to work. Don’t know if I’ll ever be able to run up some of the hills on my walk, but as a method it seems fine.
Thanks for the tip Fly and also for sharing Susie’s blog… I desperately need to invent more hours in the day for reading and for walking!
I can’t wait for the nicer weather to finally arrive so that I can get out more although running seems like a far off goal at the moment. I think an early morning walk would probably be achievable and best for me for the same reasons as you LOL!
I don’t walk every day *shameful face* in fact I sometimes don’t even leave the house for days on end as nounou drops baby off and by the time I finish work it’s not nice enough to go out for a walk
Wow, you look gorgeous in your wedding photo, you should definitely post more pictures, so we can see them…
I’m glad you managed to get rid some of your clothes, and agree for 1 euro, you don’t really need to know how you wash it? really?lol
Tips for weight loss…. well during my skinny years, I smoked (I really believe that works but it’s not good) so another is yeah smaller portions, not a lot of fizzy sugary drinks, I hvae cut down the cheese intake and wine and I dance more… does it work.. dunno yet, but I hope so I want a nice skiiny wedding picture like yours. xx
Awww thanks Claire *blushes*. I don’t like putting photos of myself up, I am shy person and TBH there are very few photos of me that I think are okay(ish).
Good luck on slimming for your wedding, I am sure you will get there, you’re definitely doing all the right things
Yeah, seriously 1 Euro!
Hmmmm, smoking is the skinny girl diet that I had for a long time, that and puking or not eating worked well also. Smaller portions and less wine I think are key but I just wish I could buy a magic wand. My tummy is bigger again after Easter and I swear I only ate a small amount of chocolate!
Dancing is great for toning all muscles, I must start up again
Don’t deprive yourself of something you want because you will eat everything else in the house to avoid it and then end up eating it too! Just eat a little of the desired item. Move more, park further away from the shops, take the stairs. It sounds basic but it works!
Cheers,
Laura
Thanks for stopping by and for your tips. I hadn’t totally forgotten about parking further away, what a great idea and so easy to do!
What a beautiful picture!
I have no recommendations for you other than no snacking and follow Fly’s suggestion. Personally I hate running and don’t have a daily walk, but I do think of it.
Thanks Sarah, I really do try not to snack but it’s hard when Baby Piglet is constantly eating throughout the day! I hate running also, ran far too much when I was younger. In fact, I’m adverse to pretty much all sport these days.
I have no direct advice but both my mum and my grand-mother did Weight Watchers in France and lost loads of weight with it (my grand-mother was obese and lost at least 15 kgs, it was really impressive). I attended one meeting with them and everybody was talking about how much lovely food they’d been able to eat over Christmas whilst still on the diet, it left me feeling very positive. My mum found that the programme was particularly good for learning about eating healthily without demonising food (rather than just a fad diet) and their cookbooks are apparently very good too.
I just keep hearing more and more good stuff about Weight Watchers, beginning to seriously consider it!
That’s great that your Mum and Grandmother were able to lose so much and still enjoy their food. Definitely seems the best diet for France!
Thanks so much for sharing, it’s really great to hear positive experiences like this
Cut out bread, bread potatoes and chocolate
Yes, you will def be slimmer but its all about exercise as well.
I remember doing a car boot sale once where I was selling your baby dresses. I sold a beautiful little dress for nothing. I could not believe when the woman who bought the dress came back an hour later and asked for a refund as it did not fit. It was a freezing cold day, I was peed off and told her this was a car boot sale not bloody Marks and Spencers. So no it does not surprise me peole want to know the ins and outs of a gnatts wahtsits…:)
Not much time for exercise although once the weather gets better at least I’ll be able to take Baby Piglet out for walks.
Bread & potatoes… ho hum, that sounds familiar! I don’t eat any bread or potatoes really already. Emmm, chocolate on the other hand, I did have some over Easter but again, doesn’t figure on my menu. I don’t eat cake, sweets or chocolate really.
I bet you could have the wrung that woman’s neck!
I think what you are doing is the smartest thing. sometimes it seems to be the slowest things but weight that is lost slowly, stays off longer.
I used to cut out bread, sweets and cut my intake by half.
I have not eaten red meat in about 40 years so I also had to watch the cheese/pasta intake.
But luckily, I love salads and veggies and you can fill up and not feel guilty with them.
A tiny taste of chocolate once in a while is okay, even healthy.
I completely agree with you on losing weight slowly Candice. Every single fad diet I have attempted I have gained the weight back plus a little bit more.
I think I should reduce my red meat intake as well.
Salad and veggies are lovely, I like them too, but you’re lucky being in a warm climate. When it’s cold and wet and dark early you just feel like tucking into a big bowl of steamy pasta or stew…
I’ve been trying out loads of different weight loss things on my blog that have been offered for reviews and I’ve been pleasantly surprised that none of them offer a quick fix, they all set out to reeducate your lifelong eating habits. If you want to research them a bit, I did a month of Jenny Craig (I lost 3kg in a month but it gets tedious eating ready meals the whole time, especially as they’re ready meals for one) – the MuTu system is good (MuTu = mummy tummy – it’s a 12 weeks exercise/eating/morale-boosting plan for mums, however long ago they had kids, to sort out your stomach muscles that were stretched apart during pregnancy and stop you having a flat tummy however much you weigh) – the biggest shocker was a slimpod hypnotherapy mp3 that retrains your brain (10 mins per day and you can even fall asleep) – I thought there was no way it could ever work and was getting ready to slate it, then lost 5kg – it makes you want to get up and do exercise (even if it’s just walking or running around with the kids), eat smaller portions and crave healthier things) – and I’ve just been given a 1 year weightwatchers online membership to trial. Impressed so far, you can eat whatever you like, as long as overall you don’t exceed your daily/weekly points.
Top tips gleaned from all that – nothing is forbidden food, just eat a small amount, otherwise you’ll just crave it even more – losing the baby weight will take time, don’t beat yourself up over it – using an online weight tracker/forum is realliy motivating – weightwatcher has a fab recipe section, whether or not you sign up with them – don’t worry too much about the numbers on the scale, use measurements/clothing as a guide instead.
Sorry, that all ended up being a bit longwinded !! (All the weight loss posts are grouped together here : http://madhousefamilyreviews.blogspot.fr/search/label/weight%20loss)
Hi Cheryl, thanks for stopping by and sharing. How cool is it that you get to try out all that stuff? AND LOSE WEIGHT AT THE SAME TIME!!! Am jealous!
Anyway, thanks for the reviews, I enjoyed reading them and loving the idea of the Slimpod! I think I’ll have to try it, do you know of any discount codes at all?
Weight watchers also seem to be getting lots of good reviews from varying sources so probably worth that I check them out too, although I’m reluctant to spend money on a diet as it could be better spent elsewhere in my life at the moment TBH (so much stuff to do in the house plus a growing baby!).
Again the MuTu looks fab and probably the best thing for me but I can’t justify spending money on an eating/exercise plan right now especially as I can get another bout of physio training for my abs from my Doctor.
I think the one for me is the Slimpod! Hopefully it should train me to do everything I know how to do and need to do.
Hey lovely….. I am currently a member of Fitness Camp Academy in the uk, I have been attending 3 45 minute training sessions a week (which can also be done at home as no equipment needed!) and following a clean diet. A clean diet basically means no processed foods so a diet made up of lean protein, vegetables (as much as you want!) and them limited amounts of nuts, fruit and non processed carbs (so rice and potatoes on days you have worked out!!) Our trainers give us the guarentee that if you don’t drop a dress size in 28 days we get our money bank….. If you want any more info the let me know hun!! xx
Hey hun, so are you on twitter now? Well done on your weight loss, I saw some pics and you look amazing! Did you do all of that on the Fitness Camp Academy?
Their philosophy sounds very, very sensible and like a good one to follow. I love that it’s all basic, healthy eating and exercise although 3 x 45 training sessions per week is a lot for me right now, I don’t get 3 x 45 minutes to myself each week at the moment
Thanks for stopping by, I am definitely going to take on the eating plan and may be in contact ref some exercise tips!
You look absolutely beautiful in this picture – radiating happiness. I think you are wise not to participate in fads. I think they normally only succeed for a very small window of time. I need to lose twenty pounds but just haven’t found the energy. Yikes.
Awww thank you
It was one of the happiest days of my life for sure!
I hate to say it but they say losing weight helps increase your energy levels… I’m hoping that’s the case anyway as mine sure need increasing!
Beautiful photo, Piglet. And I’m sure you’re still beautiful. The only thing that ever has worked for me is a combo of cardio and weights. Once I got into the habit and mybody developed more muscle, it seemed to burn things up faster. Now, if I could just get back into the habit again! Good luck.
I’m with you on the muscle burning fatter faster, it is almost as if my metabolism has halved since I’ve not been working out/moving as much.
They say you have to do something for 30 days or something for a habit to form, maybe it’s time we tried?
Weightwatchers has been good so far – they sent me through recipe books and some of their food products to try out – and I’m actually enjoying tracking my food points and weight every day online. But to be honest, you could do all that without paying a penny if you search out recipes online. If you need the motivation of the weekly weigh ins, sign up to a weight loss forum online and they do the same for free.
For SlimPod discounts, follow @thinkingslimmer on twitter – they do have the odd discount code. You could also ask them if they’re looking for any other bloggers to trial/review them – you might get lucky.
I’m actually really chuffed as today, I hit my -10kg target. I’d still like to lose the same again but that was a big target to reach
Well done you! 10 kgs is a lot and if you have another 10 to lose you’ve probably done the hardest! I too have 20 kgs to lose, so far have lost 2kg… a long way off!
Thanks for the tips and the contact for the SlimPod, am going to “tenter ma chance” as they say!
WOW! Your wedding picture is gorgeous! I’m rooting for you all the way and I know that you can do it.
Ashley
Thank you Ashley!
