Welcome to my ramblings, or should I say rants?
Just turned 30 (*aherm* 31) and living in rural France after years of city life in Lyon, welcome to my tales of life in France as a British expat married to a Frenchmen.
I’m a business woman, a wife, a friend and more recently Mother to Baby Piglet born April 2011.
A few things about me:
– I am the female version of Victor Meldrew, so my parents say.
– I work from home so don’t get out a lot. Therefore I find the weirdest things hilarious.
– I’m useless at gardening but have a huge garden since moving to the countryside.
– I love to cook but often can’t be bothered to go buy ingredients. That was the old me. I now live by a gluten and dairy free diet in a quest to manage Ankylonsing Spondylitis and have no choice but to make everything from scratch.
– I like to travel but have way too much work (add and no money!) to be able to take proper holidays.
– I have two cats that I love to bits (unfortunately Lucky died since we moved to the countryside so now I only have one cat)
– I am rounder than most French skinny women and am on a constant diet which never seems to work… Well hopefully that will change now that I’m living a healthier life.
If you wish to drop me a line, leave me a comment below. I’ll see your email address and will email you back. With all the strange stalkers out there there’s no way I’m publishing my email address here!
Just a quick message to say I very much enjoyed reading your ‘ramblings’! I live in Lyon too and also have a french hubby (to be) so, easily able to relate to many of your experiences! I hope you continue to enjoy the french life, happy new year. Kathryn
Thanks Kathryn! So another Lyonnais huh? I hope you enjoy the French life as much as I do, been over 10 years now but still feel foreign… Congratulations on the soon to be wedding and Happy New Year to you too!
Hello thank you so much for your lovely comment on my blog. Oh the postcard sending is so amazing, it all started with a lovely handwritten letter from a lovely lady called Britt-arnild, who lives in Norway. I put it on my blog and it went from there.
Yes why don’t you start sending postcards to your frequent readers, I am sure they would love it.
I am going to have a good read of your blog, and I see that you are British. I would love to experience living in France or Italy, I think My hubby would prefer Italy.
Thanks once again. Not sure if you would like a postcard from Oxford as you come from the UK…:-)
Hi Anne, thanks for your note. I’ve just left a comment back on your site but I forgot to ask: How do I send you a postcard?
Hi will send you an email, that would be lovely thank you.
My son lives near Swindon, at Raf Lyneham…:-) and today I am off to oxford..to meet a friend…Oh I know the covered market is brilliant, our favourite place.
You should really try and get to Italy, it is amazing..I love it there.. Surely you are not that far from there….I would love to live over in Europe…yes I know we are meant to be europe but sure doesn’t feel like it…!!
I am trying to get back over to France this year …Paris again hopefully..to see my friends..have to see the money siituation 😦
Bye for now, have a good week.
Hi
Just discovered your blog and read through it all and loved it.
I’m from Edinburgh with a scottish hubby. We’ve recently bought a flat in Lyon, so your blog will be a great help with getting to know about the city and the people. We won’t be living in Lyon full time yet, but hopefully in the future.
Looking forward to more of your musings
kind regards
Angela
Hi Angela, thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed my ramblings! Congrats on the flat in Lyon, its a beautiful city and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it very very much. What district have you bought in?
I’ve lived in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th districts and am now living in Villeurbanne, Gratte Ciel. I absolutely love it here although sometimes I would prefer to live in the country but everything the city has to offer is so great who can complain?
hi
We got a flat in the 9th – Vaise. I’m going over on tuesday for a couple of weeks, can’t wait. I love Lyon and plan to retire here when the time comes.
Sorry to read about your crappy week, hope you have a great chilled out time in Lisbon.
sorry to jump in on this…but more scots in Lyon?? say its still so, Angela??

Hi Claire, I’ve sent you an email 🙂
AH HA! I knew you were blogging and somehow I guessed you were British! Love how our blogs are using similar themes *wink *wink. Gotta love WordPress! Your blog is amazing of course and I am so glad to see that there is another EXPAT right here in Lyon with me! YAY! Be reading you soon…
I just found your blog through expatblogs and have really enjoyed reading about your life abroad and looking at your photos. Keep up the good work.
Hello! Will you email me so I can send you the pics I took of you and your adorable little mite yesterday? Kirsty x x
Hello Piglet. I’m enjoying reading your blog about living in Lyon…We live about an hour away (though it will be less when the motorway opens) near Roanne. I’ve been in France for six and a half years and I love it. Though like you there are things I miss about the UK.
I hope all is well with your eyesight now – to be fair, I’ve not had anything but good experiences with the French health service. So far!
Hi Dormouse, thanks for stopping by and for commenting. I hope that you will enjoy reading my blog in time to come. So Roanne hein? I must admit that I’ve never really ventured West of Lyon so I don’t know it at all, I’ll have to venture over to your blog to find out more 🙂 I’m now living east of Lyon, between Lyon and Chambery, it’s great!
The French health service is generally good, the cover you get is second to none but the quality of care is only as good as the Dr. I had a horrific birth experience here but thankfully so many other positive experiences including my eyes.
I’d been following Piglet In Portugal’s blog, so it’s neat to discover a Piglet In France blog too! You’ve got a new follower.
Hi Dienna, thanks for stopping by! PiP is my Mum, I taught her how to blog 🙂
hey lady, I found you…(that sounds a bit stalker’ish, sorry) perhaps easier to keep in touch via mail, eh?
Haha I found you too so I guess we’re both stalkers! Just didnt get chance to leave a message as bedtime happened for LM. I see your email so will message.
